Welcome to the Naked Dragon Inspirational Film Circle hosted by Movies by Mills

Each month, Naked Dragon offers a different Inspirational Film for your enjoyment.

Our choice of award winning films is based upon each film’s inspirational message and its ability to connect with our hearts – as well as our minds.

We are proud to present the first film in our new series…

Life is Beautiful – starring Roberto Benigni

Winner of 3 Academy Awards: Best Actor, Best Foreign Film and Best Original Film.

The hilarious and uplifting first half of Life is Beautiful centres around Guido (Roberto Benigni), a Jewish waiter, as he woos Dora (Nicoltette Bruschi – real-life wife of Benigni), an upper-class girl engaged to a man she does not love.

The second half of the film is sad and  joyous in equal measure as the story revolves around Guido’s, Dora’s, and their son Joshua’s internment at a death camp during WWII, during which Joshua is told by his father that ‘it is all a game’ in order to emotionally shield him from the holocaust.

This powerful film has the ability to make you laugh, smile, and cry.

Make sure you see it because, as the movie will tell you, Life Truly is Beautiful.

Cinema Coach

During these Inspirational Film Evenings, Movie Therapist Brian Mills will become our ‘Cinema Coach’ as he asks us to examine the films we watch in terms of imagery and narratives…to be aware how we react to the films we are watching…and to understand why some films can leave an indelible image on the screen of our mind.

The evening will begin with an introduction of the featured film, plus a short explanation of how films can have the power to affect us on a deep emotional level.

Brian says, “The watching of films offers us an opportunity to embark on an emotional journey. By viewing the storyline  with a new awareness, we are able to recognise and release any emotional blockages that we may have been holding onto from our past”.

The evening will conclude with a question and answer session during which any general questions about film will be invited.
